HUNTING IN THE NORTHWOODS

Pimushe Resort is located in the heart of the Chippewa National Forest. There are ample places to hunt with the many miles of logging trails — some that have been closed to motorized vehicles.

Hunting licenses are valid from March 1 through February 28 of the following year. Please see regulations handbook for exact dates/times for specific licenses.

Grouse Hunting

It’s not uncommon for our guests to have 10 plus flushes a day. The count has been increasing – with last year turning out to be a good year.

Hunting season usually starts the 3rd week of September. The last week of September through later October is typically our best hunting time for grouse and woodcock. We pre-scout areas for our guests.

Duck Hunting

Pimushe Lake is seven miles long and 1365 acres. There are many bays and several islands and a lot of points which makes Pimushe an ideal lake for waterfowl.

We usually have good numbers of local ducks. Depending on the weather, the northern flights can be excellent.

Pimushe Lake is located near several pond-type lakes that are restricted to waterfowl hunting making Pimushe a traffic and feeding area for the ducks.
